Get Free Traffic With Big Trends

By August 3, 2016Monetization

Last month, I held a webinar covering how affiliates leverage big trends such as Pokemon Go to create hooks to promote offers.

Today, I want to give an example of how you can do this by leveraging free type-in domain traffic.

In mobile marketing we refer to this as domain redirect traffic and while you can easily purchase this at numerous traffic sources such as TONIC, you can generate it for free if you get crafty.

Several months ago when the presidential election in the United States was starting to really heat up a creative agency out of Stockholm, created a parody site called TrumpDonald.org.

After seeing it allover social media, I knew it was going to catapult into a trend opportunity, therefore I immediately searched for alternate TLDs.

As luck would have it, no one picked up the .NET version, so I quickly registered TrumpDonald.net.

Given Donald has been “Trumped” over 100 million times, I didn’t get as much traffic as expected, but it was all free:

Now as you can see, traffic wasn’t just limited to the United States, so I used my iMobiTrax install to rotate through multiple landing pages and offers to find a couple winning combinations.  On my landing pages I also had fired off some of my own Pops to make a bit extra.  While I didn’t make millions, I made a couple hundred dollars with about 30 minutes of work.

I have to hand it to the guys over at TrumpDonald.org as well – they created on heck of a buzz!  Perfect brand marketing right there.

As I stated on the webinar, the US Presidential Election is just one of many trends that can be monetized.  With the Olympics in Rio getting fired up, I already have many new campaigns ready to go live in Geos all around the world!

The biggest point I want to get across, it doesn’t take a big pocket full of cash to start getting traffic.  If you get creative, you can find it many different places.  In my case, those 60k+ visitors cost me ~ $12.98 (for the domain) which I also later sold.

Traffic goes with trends and they’re constantly being spun 24/7 over on social media.  Pay close attention to them and get to maximizing your revenue!
